Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with god requires time effort and the desire for closeness just as relationships with other people take work and devotion so does a relationship with god putting forth that effort often leads to a greater sense of self worth inner peace compassion and love. Gods spirit works to transform human nature to a godly nature and the mind of christ so instead of being inclined to selfishness and sin we become inclined toward love and godliness philippians 21 5 to receive the holy spirit we must repent of our sins and be baptized god desires a close relationship with everyone. Think of building a relationship with god just as you would a relationship with anyone else suppose you wanted to get to know a certain person better the way you would do that is the way you can approach your relationship with god take the time to touch bases with god acknowledging and giving thanks for his presence.
